How to invoice a foreign client who pays with a currency different from mine?

Malt accompanies your foreign client for the payment of your projects in their currency.

What do I see on the Malt platform as a freelancer?

Depending on the connection site, you will see your dashboards in €, £ or $.

Here is a summary table of your defined currency depending on the login site:

Can I change my billing currency?

Our platform sets your currency based on the login site you created your account with. You cannot change your currency.

How is it going with my projects?

The billing currency is defined by the client. If you contract with a client, you will have to send them a quote in their currency, the invoice and the payment will be issued in this same currency.

For each project, you can visualize the different currencies in which you are able to do projects.

What is my client's currency?

When you receive a project opportunity, you have the option to see what the client's currency is.

What about your project ?

Case 1: My client and I use the same currency.

The invoicing process remains unchanged from that present on the platform.

Case 2: My client pays in a currency different from mine.

You will have to write your quote in the client's currency.

To help you establish the quote, we estimate the amount you will receive in your currency according to the exchange rate predefined by the competent authorities.

Malt does not make the conversion, the client pays the amount for which you have agreed in the estimate.

When writing your quote, you have access to the approximate amount you charge in the client's currency based on your ADR.

I am sending a quote for a short assignment, how does this currency difference materialize?

Take the case of a French freelancer who is contrating with a client who pays in pounds.

He will write the quote in the client's currency.

I send a quote for a recurring project, how does this currency difference materialize?

Take the case of a French freelancer who enters into a contract with a client who pays in pounds.

What are the impacts of this currency difference on my invoicing?

The invoice of your project will be published with the amounts relating to the currency of your client.

In order to integrate the invoice into your accounts, you will have to convert the amounts received into euros according to a conversion rate. We advise you to contact your bank to choose the right conversion rate.

I have a job in progress and my client wants to change currency, is this possible

To be paid in the newly changed currency, it is necessary to re-quote.
