In summary:

- Access is currently in limited beta, granted progressively by Malt.
What is this feature?
This feature lets you offer paid 1-hour expertise calls directly from your Malt profile. Clients can book a slot with you for advice, feedback, or expertise on a specific topic — before or independently of a longer project.
You can:
- Set your rate (minimum €100, no maximum)
- Set your availability
- Explain what clients can expect from the call
- Enable or disable the feature at any time
For now, a 30% commission applies on the freelancer side for these micro-consulting calls.
How to appear in the Micro-consulting search?
To appear in the Micro-consulting search, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be eligible for the feature.
- Be compliant and able to invoice through Malt.
- Complete your Micro-consulting offer, including your availability slots.
- Accept the Micro-consulting specific Terms & Conditions.
- Make your daily rate visible on your profile.
- Activate the "Offer Micro-consulting" toggle at the top of the setup page.
Please note that among eligible freelancers, only those who fulfill all of these requirements will be visible in the Micro-consulting search.
Can clients already book Micro-consulting calls?
Yes. Since June 25th, 2026, the feature has been made available to a first group of clients.
Access is progressively being rolled out to additional clients over time.
How does a Micro-consulting call work?
- A client selects an available time slot and prepays for the session.
- The booking is automatically confirmed.
- Before the call, the client can share context, documents and questions through the Malt conversation.
- You will receive a Google Meet link by email.
- At the scheduled time, you and the client join the session using this link.
After the call:
- Confirm that the session took place from your Order page.
- If the client also confirms, payment is released immediately.
- Otherwise, the booking is automatically validated after 10 days, unless a dispute is opened.
Where can I find my Micro-consulting bookings?
Your bookings are available in two places:
- Your dedicated Micro-consulting setup page
- Your standard Projects list
When opening a Micro-consulting booking, you will always be redirected to the dedicated Order page, where you can:
- View booking details
- Message the client
- Add the meeting to your calendar
- Join the Google Meet session
- Cancel the booking
Can I cancel a booking?
Yes. If you need to cancel a session, you can do so directly from your Order page.
If possible, we recommend informing the client through the Malt conversation so you can agree on another suitable date.
What happens if the client doesn't attend the call?
We recommend first contacting the client through the Malt conversation to find an alternative date.
The original Google Meet link remains active, so you can simply reuse it if you both agree to reschedule.
If no agreement can be reached, you can report the issue through Malt's existing dispute process within 10 days after the scheduled session.
Will I be paid if the call lasts less than one hour?
Yes. Micro-consulting sessions are sold as fixed one-hour consultations. If the session takes place but lasts less than one hour, the service is still considered delivered and you remain eligible for payment.
If the call lasts longer than one hour, the price does not change. We recommend ending the session after one hour. If the client needs additional support or would like to continue the discussion, they should book another Micro-consulting session through Malt.
Does my regular Malt availability affect Micro-consulting?
No. Your Micro-consulting availability is completely independent from your standard Malt availability.
This means you can appear unavailable for regular freelance projects while remaining available for Micro-consulting sessions.
A client books and prepays a 1-hour session directly on Malt.
Before the call, the client can share context and questions so you can prepare. You will receive a Google Meet link by email for the session.
Payment is released once the call has taken place and been confirmed by the client.
I do not have access yet. What should I do?
This feature is currently in very limited beta and access is granted by Malt only.
If you do not have access yet, we recommend creating a Malt account and completing your profile as usual. We are gradually opening the feature to more freelancers over time.
