What are Malt service fees and offers?

This article presents the three Malt plans (Starter, Advanced, Enterprise) and how service fees work for clients and freelancers.

  • Three plans: Starter (10%), Advanced (15%), and Enterprise (custom pricing).
  • At the end of a project, you receive two invoices: freelancer service and Malt service fees.

What are the Malt plans?

To offer companies the best conditions for collaborating with freelancers, Malt offers 3 service levels:

Choose the plan best suited to your freelance projects. Commissions are calculated on the amount invoiced by your freelancer, excluding tax.

The Malt Strategy plan is available in each of these plans with customised pricing for projects with Malt Strategy consultants. All plans include access to Malt Strategy, though some features may have extra costs.

How do Malt service fees work?

These plans are billed as service fees on each mission freelancers complete through Malt. At the end of a project, you receive two invoices to pay:

  • An invoice for the freelancer's service (between you and the freelancer)
  • An invoice for Malt service fees (between you and Malt)

The freelancer also receives a separate invoice from Malt for the fees applied to them.

Is there a commission charged by Malt on the freelancer side?

Malt charges a commission on the amount of missions completed by freelancers. This commission may differ depending on project terms:

  • 10% excl. VAT for a first mission
  • 5% after 6 months of mission with the same client
  • 2% when the freelancer invites their client to Malt

What does this commission fund?

These operating fees allow us to offer clients and freelancers many services, including:

  • Tools designed to simplify administrative management of your missions with freelancers
  • Personalised support from a dedicated Account Manager (from the Advanced plan)
  • Freelancer sourcing support from our specialised team (reserved for Corporate plan clients)
  • A cash advance service allowing freelancers to be paid as soon as the mission ends, even if you pay your invoices at 30 or 45 days
  • Responsive customer support available at any time
  • Mission protection coverage up to €20 million
  • Exclusive content and events specially designed for freelancers
