How does Malt Plus work for freelancers?

Malt Plus is our automatic matching solution, where our algorithm sends the project proposal directly to the best experts to carry out the assignment, taking into account the information they have indicated in their profiles.

Please select the question you are interested in below:

How does matching work?

The matching works in two steps:

1. Filtering: You can only receive an opportunity if your profile matches the criteria given by the client for the mission.

The information taken into account for the matching between the client's project and the freelance profile are the following, in order of importance:

  1. Skills

  2. The job title

  3. The Average daily rate

  4. The location

  5. Other information (details of the mission...)

2. Matching rate: The matching rate depends on the consistency between the criteria sought by the client and your profile. You will only receive missions that match 70% or more of your profile.

How to answer to a potential client?

Whether you are interested in the assignment opportunity or not, it is important to provide a response. This allows us to improve the relevance of future proposals and to demonstrate your activity on Malt.

Here are our tips for responding to your potential future client:

  • Remember to check that you are in line with the requested criteria (Key skills mastered? Similar experience(s) ? Availability? Location?). If this is not the case, it is better to decline the opportunity (no worries, this will not have a negative impact on your visibility).

  • Your client may already be in contact with other freelancers, so the idea here is to respond quickly and sell yourself in a few sentences.

  • Look in your Malt mailbox to see if the client has contacted you directly, or if it is an assignment opportunity sent by Malt that seems to match your expertise. This will allow you to better write your message.

  • Briefly introduce yourself, your profession, your experience, as well as some similar projects you have already worked on.

  • Indicate the skills that will allow you to answer his problem.

  • Do not hesitate to emphasize your interest by asking questions about the project if there are any grey areas, or by expressing your motivations.

  • Specify your availability as well as the possibility of organizing a first meeting to go into more detail.

A few templates to help you:

Here are two templates of messages to help you:

Example 1

Hello XX,

I am interested in your mission proposal. Fullstack developer for 6 years (6 years on Node.js and 4 years of experience on React.js). I work mainly in Agile mode, both on RUN and BUILD.

I am thus able to intervene on "fromscratch" projects, to give advice on the technical choices to adopt but also to integrate me into already existing projects in order to make corrective and evolutionary maintenance.

I was also able to work at XX on DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes and on both relational databases such as MySQL, SQL and noSQL with MongoDB.

I am available now full time for this mission. I can also travel X days a week in your offices.

I remain at your disposal to discuss this project and present you in more detail my experiences in connection with the mission.

Have a nice day,

Example 2

Hello,

I am particularly interested in this opportunity as a PMO. I have more than 10 years of professional experience and a wide international exposure.

I have strong skills in project and team management, product development, data analysis and visualization especially on PowerBI.

I have worked in different industries such as banking and insurance, digital, and retail.

As an example, at X, I was able to work on X transversal projects as a PMO. I was in charge of the follow-up of the projects with the stakeholders, by setting up regular meetings, I managed the schedules and the budgets. I also participated in different committees to present the evolution and progress of the projects.

I am available from X and carry out my missions entirely remotely.

I would be happy to discuss this further during an interview.

Have a nice day,

Why don't I get any opportunities?

Most of our clients call on our support service to find freelancers for Tech, Data, Design or Project Management missions in the Paris and/or Lyon area, requiring a certain level of seniority. The desired availability is often 4, 5 days a week.

Other reasons may be:

Your profile is incomplete. Think of adding a profile picture, a description and experiences as well as signing the freelance charter.

You have indicated that you are only available in 2 months or more. Remember to check your availability here.

I would like to stop receiving opportunities

You will only receive opportunities if you are available now and/or in less than 2 months.

If you no longer wish to receive opportunities, you can indicate that you will be available again in more than 2 months.

The opportunities I receive are not relevant

The opportunities you will receive depend on what is entered in your profile.

✔ Are you registered in the right categories? More information on choosing your category in this article.

✔ Have you made it clear that you only want telecommuting opportunities?

✔ Or that you don't want to work for a particular industry?

Do I have to respond to every opportunity?

There is no obligation to answer but we do recommend to do it, as it will allow you to demonstrate that your profile is active and allow us to send you better opportunities in the future.

How does it work?

Malt Plus is a matching solution between a client project and freelancers.

In concrete terms:

1. The client has the possibility to fill in his detailed project in his Malt Plus space. This is an alternative to the search engine. In addition to the description of the mission, they will be asked to specify their expectations in terms of skills, budget and location.

2. A matching algorithm, specially designed by our data scientists, will send this mission opportunity to a selection of freelancers whose profile and assignment preferences match the most with your needs. If your profile matches the mission, you are notified via a push notification or email.

3. You can then discover the detailed content of these opportunities directly in your Malt Messaging.

4. Two options then:

  • If and only if you are interested in the mission, contact the client by replying to the message received.
  • If you are not interested or available, you can decline the opportunity and tell us why. This will not affect your reputation (visibility) and will allow us to improve the match.

It says that my reply to a post is pending moderation, what does that mean?

Some customers benefit from an additional service of verification of the first message received by the freelancer in order to ensure the good correspondence with their need.

he verification is done within 24 hours and the message is then forwarded to the client. The following messages will not need to be verified.

Can I decline the proposals as much as I want?

Yes, you can decline all the proposals that do not interest you. It is even advisable to express in all transparency on the platform the missions that do not correspond to you by using the "decline" button, in order to help the algorithm to improve the matching for the future.
