This article explains how end-of-project reviews, external recommendations, and the "On Malt" badge work on your profile.
- End-of-project reviews are left by clients after a completed project.
- External recommendations strengthen your profile with off-platform feedback.
- The "On Malt" badge identifies experiences completed through the platform.
End-of-project reviews

Reviews are left by clients you have completed a project with on Malt. At the end of the project, they can give you a rating from 1 to 5 stars and add a comment. For time-based projects, a review can only be left once the project is complete.
Your average rating appears on your profile, in search results, and in conversations with clients. To earn the Super Malter badge, you must maintain an average rating of at least 4.5.
Each project review is displayed individually on your profile page, including the rating and comment (if any).
Both freelancers and clients can hide a review. If a review is hidden, your profile will still indicate that a review was hidden.
Clients can leave a review at any time after a project ends. Once submitted, a review can be edited for 30 days. After that, it can no longer be changed.
Recommendations
In addition to reviews, you can receive external recommendations on Malt from clients or colleagues you have worked with off the platform. Enter their email address, write a personalized message, and send the request.
For each request, three notifications are sent (immediately, on day 4, and on day 15). The link is personal and can only be used by the invited person. Malt does not use collected email addresses for marketing purposes.
Once submitted, recommendations cannot be edited, but they can be deleted at any time by the person who wrote them.
Freelancers can also hide a recommendation on their profile.
How do I leave an end-of-project review for my client?
Once your client has validated the end of the project, you can rate your collaboration and leave a comment. This helps other freelancers make informed choices.
- Go to the completed project page.
- Click "Leave a comment".
- Give the client a rating out of 5 stars and add a comment.
Because clients do not have a public profile, their reviews are only visible to freelancers who are in conversation with them. To access them, go to the top right of the conversation window and open the client card.

How do I display the "On Malt" badge?
The "On Malt" badge identifies project experiences completed through the Malt platform.
You can add a project as an experience on your profile by filling in project information such as the experience description and skills used.
There are two ways to do this:
- After leaving a review for your client at the end of a mission, you will be prompted to add the project to your profile.
- From the project page, by clicking the "Display your project on your profile" card and completing the experience form.

Once the experience form is complete, the experience will appear on your profile with the "On Malt" badge.
It is not currently possible to add the "On Malt" badge to an experience you created manually before. However, you can use the "Display your project on your profile" card to create a new project-linked experience, then delete the duplicate experience.
Why do I see a duration next to some reviews?
To give clients more context, we display an approximate duration next to reviews. This helps them understand whether a project was a short assignment or a longer collaboration.
The duration is calculated automatically from project information. Instead of showing exact dates, we show simple ranges (a few days, a few weeks, a few months, less than a year, more than a year…).
This information has no impact on your profile or ranking and cannot be changed.
