This insurance also includes Avantages Plus Guarantees, which protect against risks like lost documents or hacked websites, and provides legal support if you face disputes.
Additionally, Operational Civil Liability covers your daily business-related civil liability.
Is Professional Civil Liability mandatory?
For self-employed workers or freelancers, except regulated professions and certain activities, professional liability insurance is not compulsory but strongly recommended to protect you against risks likely to affect your income or your activity.
Where am I covered?
You are covered worldwide.
Any natural or legal person exercising within the framework of one of the statuses listed in your Information Notice, the activities or missions operated by the subscriber or its subsidiaries through the Malt platform (except for the domains listed in the exclusions).
Please consult the General Terms and Conditions and Special Terms and Conditions.
Professional Liability Insurance guarantees
What are the guarantees of Professional Civil Liability insurance (RC Pro)?
Professional Civil Liability covers you in the event of damage of the following types:
- Physical (or bodily) damage: all injuries caused will be covered. This also protects you in the event of the death of a third party (for example, you are a sports coach and your client suffers a heart attack during a session).
- Material damage: all damage or destruction of property (you accidentally drop your laptop) is covered.
- Moral (or immaterial) damage: all moral damages (you are accused of an infringement of intellectual property without having wanted to copy anything) and financial losses linked to damage other than physical or material damage (your late delivery results in a loss of money to your customer) are insured.
For your additional coverage, you will benefit from:
- Benefits plus guarantees: guarantee in the following cases: loss of your documents, hacking of your website, damage to your reputation and replacement of a key person, disputed debt, and project costs.
- Professional legal recourse: guarantee in the event of a dispute or recourse against a client. Hiscox supports your company throughout the legal procedure.
- Operational civil liability: guarantee in the event of damage caused to a third party in the context of the operation of your business in connection with your professional activities outside the execution of a contract.
Example of professional liability insurance coverage
- A customer invited to a party organized on your premises falls and is injured, you will be covered for the damage he suffered.
- While at a prospect's home, you accidentally step on a computer's power cord and drop its screen. You will be covered for repair costs.
- Your accountant visits you at your premises. Because of the rainy weather, your driveway floor is slippery. Unfortunately, upon arrival, your accountant loses his balance and is injured. His condition requires a work stoppage of 3 months. This financial loss (intangible damage resulting from bodily injury) will be covered.
