The easy answer is yes, you can lose your Malt Expert status.

Malt Expert status is awarded to the top clients on Malt who have earned a positive reputation among the freelancers they work with on the platform.

Earning points towards Malt Expert status happens on a rolling basis. This is calculated based on a number of factors, including the number of projects managed via Malt, their overall rating (given to them by freelancers), their ability to pay for projects on time, and so on.

For example, if you have Malt Expert status today but then stop doing projects on Malt for an extended period of time — or even worse, start paying freelancers late — you can lose your status.

But that doesn't mean it's lost forever. By doing more work on Malt and improving your reputation over time, you can earn your Malt Expert status once again.
